A Willy Wonka Easter with River Island fashion
“There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.”

It was just over 2 years ago that I was invited to my first River Island event: a chocolate-making workshop held just before Easter. I took Olivia along, but left William in the care of my mother-in-law because he had not long turned one. It was my first introduction to River Island’s clothing collection for children.
Two years on from that first event and we were invited back for another Easter celebration. This time, William – now a 3-year-old little boy – came too. When they received their official invitations they were so excited – well, it’s not every day you get the chance to meet none other than Mr Willy Wonka himself!
The day of the event came. Outfits were picked out carefully by each child. Olivia opted for a floaty cerise blouse, denim-look leggings and a pair of funky monochrome trainers. Meanwhile, William choose to team up one of his favourite t-shirts – featuring Spongebob SquarePants – with a pair of jeans and a fabulous plum and white jacket.
When we got to the venue, all 3 of us were amazed at the effort that had gone into creating a Wonka wonderland: the floor had been completely grassed over, giant lollipops and candy canes stood proudly around the room, and toadstool tables and chairs were scattered about. And of course there was Willy Wonka himself making giant balloon lollipops and hats for all the children.
It certainly was a fun event: there was t-shirt designing, some games and magic with Willy Wonka and an Easter egg hunt. I also had the chance to browse through some of River Island’s kidswear for Spring/Summer ’14. Here are some of the clothes that caught mine, Olivia’s and William’s attention.
I wrote a post 2 years ago about why I love River Island and it’s a love affair that keeps on growing. The events that they put on for bloggers are creative, varied and high-quality – just like their clothes.
Please note: I was given a gift card for each of my children to spend in-store at River Island. I have declared which of the items photographed were bought (courtesy of these gift cards). This gift has in no way influenced this blog post – all opinions are all mine and are ten0% honest.
