A new year walk and some much needed fresh air

Getting some fresh air to banish those winter ills.

Regular readers will know that my children and I like to get outdoors when we can.

Although we don’t do it every week, I do try my best to get us all outside as much as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s a beautiful summer’s day or a wet and windy one, we try not to let the weather affect our adventures.

But this year we’ve been hibernating somewhat. Since our Santa Sleepover at Alton Towers just before Christmas we haven’t left our house much. There was one New Year’s Eve trip to see a pantomime, but that really has been about it.

I’m blaming it on illness and infections. My husband was diagnosed with pneumonia yet again (he last had it in September and it resulted in a hospital stay) and obviously hasn’t had the energy to do very much. My children and I have had our own inevitable coughs and colds too.

Luckily, my children were given a LeapTV for Christmas by their grandparents so they’ve been keeping themselves active this January using that. But, I’ve increasingly been hankering after a proper bout of fresh air to well and truly ‘blow away the cobwebs’.

So last weekend we donned our winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves and headed outdoors to get that much needed fresh air.

We even made a friend on our travels who insisted on following us almost all of the way home.

The fresh air certainly made us reinvigorated. We stopped off at the park for a quick play, but headed home as the sun began to set.

  1. So nice to get out and blow the cobwebs away. I hope everyone is on the mend and that hubby is getting over his pneumonia.

  2. I’m glad you’ve finally found the time to get back outdoors and get some much needed fresh air. I hope everyone’s on the mend in your house and the fresh air helped refresh you all. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

  3. Sorry to hear you have all had the winter bugs. Especially your poor Husband. He must have felt so unwell.

It’s hard to get motivated when it is so cosy at home. We ventured out today and actually really enjoyed the fresh air as well!
