How Ocean Florida saved the day and made it awesome
The tale of one company – Ocean Florida – going above and beyond the call of duty.
A little over one month ago, my husband and I awoke one morning, our bodies caressed by warm fingers of bright, yellow light creeping into our room through the gaps in the window blinds.
It was the fourth day of our Florida holiday and the fourth day of blue skies and pleasant sunshine.
We roused our children from their slumber and got ready for another day of theme park fun.
We had hired a car for the duration of our holiday to give us maximum freedom and it was an enjoyable drive to our destination.
The sun was beating down on us, the roads were clear and open, and the stereo was blasting out what would become the anthem of our holiday – Uptown Funk.
About 40 minutes after we left our hotel we arrived at our destination. LEGOLAND Florida.
The lovely people at travel company, Ocean Florida had sent us tickets to review the park after hearing about our holiday plans.
We arrived at LEGOLAND just before it opened, bagging a parking space more or less right outside the entrance.
“You packed the tickets, right?” my husband asked as we strolled towards the gate.
“You packed them in my bag, didn’t you?” I replied.
We stopped – froze in fact – and stared at each other in silence.
We had arrived at LEGOLAND Florida and forgotten our tickets!
To drive all the way back to our hotel to pick the tickets up would mean losing our fantastic parking space as well as almost all of the morning. We were on a tight schedule during our holiday as it was.
So we rushed to the customer service booth and explained our dilemma. We hoped they might be able to do something for us.
As expected, we were told that they couldn’t let us in without tickets, but that if we could get Ocean Florida to email them to confirm our tickets then we could be let in.
Cue a hasty call to the UK.
As you can guess from the title of this post, Ocean Florida came through for us, going the extra mile to make sure we weren’t left high and dry.
They could so easily have said it wasn’t their problem, but they didn’t. Ocean Florida – you rock! And look how happy you made my children…
I’ll be publishing a full review of LEGOLAND Florida soon, but wanted to take the opportunity now to acknowledge the efforts of everyone at Ocean Florida to make that review possible.
And I have messages for two people in particular.
This is to the person in the customer service team who took my initial telephone call…
It would have been just another Sunday afternoon customer service shift for you. The last thing you probably expected was a phone call from a flustered and panicked woman in Florida going on about missing theme park tickets.
Despite the unexpected phone call, you seemed to know just what to do. You sympathised with me when I explained my family’s situation. You told me that you’d try your best to help. You stayed calm throughout our phone calls, which in turn reassured and calmed me.
You could so easily have said that it was a Sunday and that the right people weren’t available to help. You didn’t. You took my number, managed to get in touch with a member of the marketing team to resolve the issue, and called me back with the update.
Quite simply put – you saved the day.
If it hadn’t been for you, we wouldn’t have got into LEGOLAND. I will forever be indebted to you for going the extra mile when you had no obligation to do so. Thank you.
And to the person in marketing team who took the time to email LEGOLAND Florida on their day off…
When you work Monday to Friday, Sundays are sacred. I know this. It’s why I am so grateful that you agreed to email LEGOLAND Florida with the necessary paperwork to allow me and my family entrance.
But not only did you agree to do it, you did it that very instant. About five minutes after I received the update from Sarah, the email was there waiting for the LEGOLAND representative.
The relief not only showed on my face, but shook my whole body.
Like Sarah, you didn’t have to above and beyond the call of duty like you did. The fact that you were so willing to help someone in distress is testament to your professionalism and dedication.
