Life is a beach
Enjoying the great British seaside.
With all this gorgeous weather we’ve been having lately, it seemed only right to finally head to the great British seaside.
I’d been promising Olivia and William a trip to the beach for a little while. With the weather a little cooler than previous weekends but still warm, we decided that yesterday was the day to do it.
We packed up our UV sun tent and sun cream (you can never be too careful); a trolley-load of beach toys; and a cooler full of tasty treats and delicious drinks. Then, we bundled ourselves into the car and off we went.
The excitement built the further we drove. By the time we had arrived, it was palpable.
It didn’t take us long to find a sandy spot to settle down on and Olivia wasted no time in building the first of many sandcastles.
William meanwhile, decided to build his energy for later and started on the snacks.
I took the opportunity to relax a little.
There’s something special about the beach. It has an ability to make you forget about all of your worries and your strife. It can give you an incredible carefree feeling and transport you back to your childhood in seconds.
The beach may have been more stones than sand; our sandcastles may have crumbled more often than not; and the tide may have been out – none of that mattered.
We collected stones, we made sand shapes instead of castles and we splashed where we could in the wet, damp sand.
We all had so much fun together at the great British seaside.
Sometimes life really is a beach.
